Explaining things to my grandmother (who personally digs what we are doing), I tried to put everything in to simple terms.
You see what we are trying to do is offer a more democratic approach to apartment leasing.
The reason why social media sites are so popular right now is that we now have an opportunity to earn respect and the right to speak in a digital platform. Sites like digg.com, twitter, stumbleupon don’t rely on a corporate opinion to sway trends and topics in news and culture, but they allow users to earn their way on to each others feeds.
I told my grandmother, it’s kinda like seeing the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain. For some reason, we trust the image of the great and powerful Oz. What he says influences our opinion. But when we finally see him for the first time in person, we realize that he is just like us.
Corporate listings, I told her, are kinda like the Great Oz. I would much rather trust the opinion of a man behind the curtain, if it be valid, than listening to a giant powerful projection.
findmyspace is in the spirit of social sharing. We wanted to create a platform for others to discuss relevant concerns about apartment leasing. Transparency was a big factor in our startup decision.
We hope you enjoy your stay here, and that we can give you a better leasing experience along the way.
